The historic village of Castle Acre with its flint faced cottages, greens and river must be one of the prettiest in Norfolk, with excellent olde worlde country pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops all in very short walking distance.  The rolling countryside surrounding the Nar valley completes the scene. Castle Acre is on the Ancient Peddars Way - an ideal rambling centre.  Sandringham and the coast at Hunstanton and Heacham are some 30 minutes drive, as is Wells-Next-the-Sea, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, Blakeney, Holt, Sheringham and Burnham Market.  The current home for the BBC's 'Springwatch' is Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens is only 20 minutes drive.
