This Grade II Georgian Cottage is the second of four built onto the unique and well-preserved C13th Northgate to an C11th castle. The ruined castle itself, on high ground overlooking the valley of the river Nar, is an English Heritage site, as is the ruined Norman Cluniac Priory, the equal to many of Britain's most celebrated religious heritage sites.
Dating from around 1800 this compact and characterful cottage has all the appliances expected for modern living. Old brick fireplaces are ingeniously integrated with the tasteful decorative scheme. Modern electric storage heating and excellent use of space offer easy living and provide a cosy, comfortable and well furnished country hideaway. The recently relandscaped south facing garden has a Gothic summerhouse and patio of old Norfolk pamments, shingle seating area and flower borders. It is a suntrap and not overlooked. A shingle car park, adjoining the green in front of the cottage, provides ample off-road parking. A variety of quality restaurants, a pub, deli., and a general store/Post Office are all very close to hand.

The historic village of Castle Acre with its flint faced cottages, greens and river must be one of the prettiest in Norfolk, with excellent olde worlde country pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops all in a very short walking distance. The rolling countryside surrounding the Nar valley completes the scene. Castle Acre is on the ancient Peddars Way - an ideal rambling centre. Sandringham and the coast at Hunstanton are some 30 minutes drive, as is Wells-Next-the-Sea, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, Blakeney, Holt, Sheringham and Burnham Market. The current home for the BBC's 'Springwatch' is Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens which is only 20 minutes drive.
